The app shut off by itself after my son had used it for a while and reached the higher levels in the different subjects. I had to delete and reinstall the app and advanced the player for my son to the higher levels.

Teach Me 1st Grade is a good app. However, my daughter is learning DeNealian handwriting at school and this app does not accept these types of letters with extra strokes.
This is by far the best learning app available. Only $2.00!!!! This is worth much more!!!! Every parent has to have these apps. Please make a third grade one!!!!!!
By far this is the best education app that my 1st grader enjoy.
My son, age 6, has LOVED this App. He has the kindergarten and 1st grade versions. He loves to earn coins and "buy" rewards. If he spends all the coins, he says "Well I have to go back to school!" Such a great lesson the learn. I have only found 1 glitch on the 1st Grade level. When he needs to write the "arm", it never accepts the letter "m". Ive tried to write for him and it doesnt accept any attempt, Capitol letter, lower case, different kinds of strokes. He gets REALLY frustrated and just turns it off to play something else. Please fix this glitch and the App be PERFECT!!
This is a very good program. It tracks progress and has helped my two 6 year old girls. They made it to level 5 on all the areas but spelling. They are stuck on level 4 and are loosing steam. But this after weeks of daily progress and fun. They enjoyed the program and this helped them learn and write a little better.
My son is 5 years old, and plays this portion of the TeachMe apps. He finds this one to be more of a challenge and likes it more. If your child is you get than 1st grade but on an advanced level, this is DEFINITELY the app for them!
My little Helen loves this app. It reinforces math facts and she loves earning coins with the right answers. Its a winner for us.
Loved kindergarten version. However, this one requires your child to handwritten the answer onto the iPad. The handwriting recognition software is poor and will often just not read the answer. If it cant read the answer, the mouse narrator goes into a long lecture about writing clearly that cannot be interrupted and sometimes repeated itself multiple times. Very annoying! I cannot set this to use a keyboard or to shut-up the annoying narrator.
My son is working on his spelling and word recognition over the summer and I am happy to say, hes loving earning rewards through this app. He also recently broke his arm and is learning to write left handed for a few weeks. The writing recognition part is no problem for him. He knows when it doesnt look right and very easily hits the eraser button and tries again!
My daughter does great with the Teach Me apps. The content is right on and the handwriting feature can be finicky but its teaching good penmanship at the same time. Overall, we are very pleased with this app.
After going through TeachMe Toddler and TeachMe kindergarden, this app is really great … my just-turned-5 year old is cruising with it. Recognition of the handwritten letter "m" is really off it seems. Even I have a hard time getting Ms mouse to recognize that one when he complains shes not see it. The reward system in the app is great and very encouraging. He loves his goldfish and works hard to buy food and things for their tank. More things would be great, always. ;-)
Great App my 6 year old is loving the rewards and positive reinforcement. Keeping her learning active during summer break.
I used this as a summer bridge to first grade for my kids. They couldnt put it down and were excited to get all of the rewards. They even learned how to budget money for the more "expensive" rewards.
My son loved the Kindergarten version. It got him excited about learning. But this version requires them to write in the answer. The recognition software is so poor, it often wont recognize a correct word (even when I try to write it in), and its frustrating and counterproductive for learning. I wish theyd allow for a keyboard option until they fix this. Otherwise the app is perfect.
The sticker reward system is brilliant! Keeps kids motivated to continue and to learn.
My daughter who is in kindergarten LOVES this game/App. She loves the rewards and its a great way to get her thinking ahead in her writing and math.
This app is amazing!
I needed a quick way to keep my child occupied, and downloaded this. The very first direction was to spell the word dog using your pointer finger on the screen. She started to write D and it recorded it as an i she returned to trying and finally I tried it and it took a few tries before it finally accepted it as a D ... Now, my child is in the first grade. I would appreciate she masters spelling before problem solving for a stupid app.
This is, by far, our familys favorite and longest used educational ap. The reward system is very helpful in keeping my kids interested as they learn. The settings allow you to customize learning. I would give this ap 5 stars if the keyboard was a normal QWERTY keyboard. An alphabetized keyboard may make things easier in the short run, but kids these days need to get used to QWERTY boards. I do prefer the keyboard option over the handwriting option which is difficult to use.
